Making things happen

Making things happen

ALL takes part in projects both in the UK and in the European Union.

We are currently partners in:

realThe REAL project is co-led by ALL and the Centre Internationale d’Etudes Pédagogiques in Sèvres, France. This project, which is part-funded by the EU, aims to create a strong network of language teacher associations across the European Union.

At the end of its first year it registered a new European federation, also called REAL, which will be an umbrella organisation for language teacher associations in the EU, able to take forward the work of the project after the funded period.

You can find out more about REAL and join the REAL contact database here.

We have previously been partners in:

Links into Languages

Links into Languages project, where ALL led on behalf of the consortium (LLAS at the University of Southampton, SSAT and ALL) on the LinkedUp scheme, a scheme through which teachers, schools, colleges, universities, local authorities and other educational providers could apply for funds to develop innovative projects which address some of the major challenges in languages education.

This project has now finished, but you can find a fully searchable database of the teaching resources developed on the Links website.

World Languages project in which ALL was part of a consortium of the Institute of Education, University of London with the University of Sheffield Department of Educational Studies, Language Networks for Excellence (LNfE) Education Partnerships at the University of Wolverhampton. This was a TDA-funded two year project to carry out research into issues surrounding the delivery of languages in schools in England, with specific reference to lesser taught languages and to use the findings to inform the development of a long-term strategy for the sustainable, equitable, and high quality delivery of all world languages in schools in England.

The training for languages subject leaders for the new secondary curriculum in England. This project ended on 31st March 2010 but there is a wealth of information on our new secondary curriculum website. We will continue to provide information and advice for teachers looking for innovative ways to make language learning a vibrant and integrated part of the secondary curriculum.

ALL is also instrumental in setting up resource banks for language teachers, for example CLIL4Teachers, a one stop shop website for teachers interested in Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL); and the ALL4Italian resource bank.
