The National Curriculum Review 2011-2014
Here at ALL, we believe that it’s very important not just to keep our members updated on news and updates in the field of languages education, but to try to influence the debate. We believe that it is important to respond as a community to issues which concern the teaching of languages, and that by doing this, we can shape the future of our profession.
ALL works actively on your behalf throughout the year, by:
- collecting, collating and presenting your views on specific issues, for example on A Level Languages, on the National Curriculum Review, and on languages education in general;
- responding to national consultations about key issues in the field of languages education, for example, on the EBacc, the National Curriculum Review and many other consultations;
- attending meetings with ministers and civil servants to put across your views to decision makers, at the Department for Education and many national and international bodies;
- commenting on the issues raised nationally regarding languages and language teaching, for example, the latest Ofsted report, ‘Modern languages: achievement and challenge 2007–2010’ and comments by the Bishop of Bradford;
- raising the profile of language teaching and learning in the press, through press releases, open letters and media statements.
