Herzlich willkommen auf der Webseite vom German National Committee von ALL!

Unsere Komiteemitglieder:

Geoff Brammall

Geoff Brammall (Chair) taught German in grammar and comprehensive schools for 27 years. He now works as a free-lance educational consultant for German. He is the author of numerous German text books and speaks regularly at conferences and training events. He is Principal Examiner for GCSE German Reading with the AQA examination board. In June 2011 he completed a PhD at the University of Manchester, researching into GCSE pupils' reading strategies in German.

Alice Gruber

Alice Gruber teaches at Godalming Sixth Form College in Surrey, The American School in London and several FE/HE institutions (e.g. the Open University). She is just completing a PhD thesis at the University of Reading, comparing French proficiency of students at GCSE level in England and Germany.

Gina Hall

Gina Hall graduated in French and German and has taught in schools in the Greater Manchester area for over 30 years, most of them as a Head of Department. She is a longstanding member of ALL (and its predecessors), and is Secretary of the Manchester branch. An ardent traveller herself, she is a passionate believer in bringing the languages and cultures of Europe into the classroom as well as encouraging people of all ages to travel to Europe to experience the same at first hand. She currently teaches German to Advanced level; her goal is always to enable students to achieve as high a degree of confidence, fluency and accuracy as possible whilst developing a love of language and cultures, especially those of the German-speaking countries.

Carol Hughes

Carol Hughes is Director of Languages at Southend High School for Girls in Essex. She teaches both German and French and is particularly interested in ICT in language learning and using IWBs to motivate and engage students.

Rene Koglbauer

René Koglbauer is currently PGCE Course Leader for Modern Languages at Newcastle University. From 2003 until August 2010 he worked at the Cherwell School in Oxford. René joined ALL as soon as he arrived from Austria in 2003. Apart from being a Member of the Executive Council of ALL, René is the representative to the International German Teacher Association (IDV) and works closely with our Austrian partner, BMUKK (Austrian Department for Education). His current interests regarding teaching MFL are: AfL in MFL, careers opportunities with MFL, bid writing (e.g. UK-German Connection Funds), ICT in MFL, teacher training, current affairs in the MFL classroom, CLIL approach, use of target language.

Colleen Marshman

Colleen Marshman qualified as a teacher in 2000, and the majority of her teaching to date has been in secondary schools in Yorkshire. She re-located to Cambridge in 2008, and, although essentially taking a break from teaching to look after her young family, has most recently been involved in Adult Education at Hills Road Sixth Form College. Colleen is hugely enthusiastic about Austria, and in encouraging creativity in speaking and writing. She has been a member of the GNC since 2002 and the News and Notes Editor of Deutsch: Lehren und Lernen for the past three years. Other interests include: travel, choral music and skiing.

Karl Pfeiffer

Karl Pfeiffer is the Director of Educational Links at the Goethe-Institut in London. He has worked closely with British teachers of languages, especially with members of ALL, for almost twenty years. One of his priorities has been making the learning and teaching of languages fun, particularly through the very successful Arsenal Double Club.

 Wanda Marshall

Wanda Marshall is the new editor of Deutsch Lehren und Lernen. She has been teaching German for eleven years and was until recently Head of German at Ashmole Academy, a large north London comprehensive. She teaches French to GCSE and German to A Level and is an enthusiastic advocate of German. She has organised many school trips to Germany and France, set up email exchanges and most recently established a very popular cross curricular trip to Berlin, together with the History Department. She is currently taking a break from the classroom to focus on other language related projects.
