This event is organised by the NE Branch of ALL but is open to Secondary teachers of Spanish, and on this occasion, any other language anywhere online.
Maria Blanco’s book ‘How to Learn Spanish – A guide to powerful principles and strategies for successful learning and self-empowerment’ was reviewed in Languages Today 48. We are delighted that Maria, based at UCL London, has offered to talk about her work at a webinar.
We are inviting teachers of any language interested in the theme to attend, along with the ALL Social Zoom community of trainee teachers and ECTs.

EMPOWER YOUR STUDENTS: TEACH THEM LANGUAGE LEARNER STRATEGIES
This interactive workshop is for teachers of any foreign language. We will briefly explore why language learner strategy training is important in language courses. Then, we will cover which language learning strategies to teach and how to teach them using a simple and effective four-step approach I have used extensively with my students. I will share examples of student work and typical feedback from students who have attended the training sessions. I will also share the main challenges I experienced, the insights I gained through the training sessions, and basic guidelines for implementing language learner strategy training in any language course.
