Main Themes: Transition, Engaging the Wider Community, CLIL and Online Training.
Keynote Speaker: Jane Harvey, President, Association for Language Learning (ALL): “Pupil engagement and enjoyment of language learning through projects”.
Programme for the day:
French for Families and Teacher Training: Daniel Champlin from Victoria Primary School, Falkirk Council will talk about how he engaged with the parent community through the French for Families Course. Daniel will also present on how he has been supporting and developing teacher training in his school.
Update on Resources on PowerLanguage Schools: Elise Gay, PowerLanguage will talk about the revamping of activities from early Planners and new resources to be uploaded on PowerLanguage Schools
Secondary Resources: Nadine Fraize and Richard Tallaron, PowerLanguage will be presenting the new Resources developed for BGE.
Nursery Resources and transition into P1: Thea Pallut, Development Officer for Highland Council will talk about best practice in a Nursery school.
“How To…”: A series of new videos supporting the pedagogy of teaching language in the Primary School using PLS resources as examples. Presented by the PowerLanguage team.
Online Courses to support L3: Virginie Bradbury, staff tutor for PanTayside will talk about best practice for the introduction of Spanish in L3 in a Primary School in Dundee.
Assessment and Cluster project: Jen Read, Development Officer for Angus Council will present a cluster model to support sustainability across schools in Angus. Jen will also talk about a survey to be carried out by Angus Council this year linked to the use of the PLS in their schools.
ELAPSE: Nadine Fraize and Richard Tallaron will talk about the LFEE Europe KA2 project called “Embedding Languages across Primary and Secondary Education”. PowerLanguage is a strategic partner to this 2 year project.
