Please come along and join us for our annual ‘ALL London June Event’ on Saturday 15th June 2023, 10-1. Many thanks to our friends at the Spanish Education office (Maria Antonia Garcia, José Jiménez, María Luisa Martínez & Gabriela Alonso) who have arranged for us to be hosted in the Vicente Cañada Blanch Spanish School which occupies a former Dominican convent in Kensington’s famous Portobello Road. As always, the main focus of the morning is to provide an opportunity for teachers from all sectors to get together and learn from each other, whether through attending sessions or just chatting over our long coffee break.
We like having a plenary at the start so that we can share some common themes. Artificial Intelligence is a hot topic for everyone at the moment and can be used to support all aspects of a teacher’s role. We are absolutely delighted that Joe Dale can spend the morning with us. He will give a 30-minute plenary session on what is available, and then later, after the break, there will be a chance to delve deeper into the subject in a workshop which takes place in parallel with the primary and secondary sessions. Please bring your own device for this!
Nadine has close links with the arts scene in London and beyond, and is arranging to share a 10-minute presentation about exciting opportunities for cross-curricular projects supported by the Royal Opera House. (We move in high circles, you know!)
Then there will be a choice to follow either a primary thread or a secondary thread of workshops or Joe Dale AI workshop, including a half-hour coffee break.
Secondary teachers will have been preparing to teach the new GCSE for first teaching from this September. Helen Myers will give a summary of the shared issues for all three languages covered by the new GCSE and then there will be a chance for delegates to get together with others from their own language area to share ideas about resourcing the lessons. Thanks so much to Nathalie Blondeau (Harris Federation), Susannah Porsz (a GEM and leader at the NCLE Beeleigh hub, as well as being one of our newest ALL London committee recruits) and Adam Lamb (currently Mossbourne Academy and about to join United Learning) who have offered to lead and coordinate the French, German and Spanish sessions respectively.
Primary teachers will have the treat of spending time with Sue Cave on the importance of embedding phonics in KS2 lessons, and then they can go on to share good practice, led by our superb primary hub coordinators.
Finally, let’s hope that the sun shines (it usually does!) and we can go out into the cloister. Bring your own picnic and something to sit on, and we will provide the squash!

We deliberately keep the costs down in order to encourage as many people as possible to come along and experience the warmth of the ALL family and we have a special offer in order to encourage ECTs, Primary Teachers and Community language teachers to try us out! We very much hope that people who come along and who are not ALL members will feel moved to support us by joining up!
