“Developing Extended Spontaneous Speaking and Writing for GCSE”

Vincent will explore ways for language teachers to extend pupils’ written and spoken answers, focusing on how to use a core repertoire of language, so that pupils can express themselves with growing fluency and independence. He will show examples of routines pupils can deploy to develop their answers and meet the requirements of GCSE speaking and writing. He is also keen to share details of the successful hybrid ALL meetings held across East Anglia, as a possible model for ALL Cymru.
Vincent is Head of Languages at a comprehensive school in Norfolk. He has taught for 30 years and is a popular conference speaker, author and blogger – “The nice man who teaches languages” blog. In particular, he likes to focus on how to teach spontaneous speaking and extended writing, with the emphasis on pupils getting good at using the language they have learned. He is a former Executive Council member of the Association for Language Learning and runs regular hybrid meetings for ALL members in the East of England.
