Supporting your association

Find out about the ways that you can further support the work of the Association for Language Learning

Do you want to support your national language subject association further?

The Association for Language Learning (ALL) is a registered charity that does not receive direct financial support from government or other funding bodies. We rely instead on the income from membership subscriptions and publication sales to fund our current and future work.

We also rely heavily on the generosity of our members who give of their time and skills to help us pursue our charitable mission, to promote the teaching and learning of foreign languages, but we could always do with a little extra help.

A donation or bequest to ALL will help us to directly support language teachers in the classroom. Your generosity could be used to directly support our educational activities.

Make a donation

The ALL membership subscription income is returned in the form of services, but additional donations enable us to expand our range of activities and extend our services even further. As a registered charity ALL may also be eligible for Gift Aided donations.  ALL recently received a donation from an anonymous donor who stated:

'I am encouraged by the extent of activity within the Association that language teachers are still full of enthusiasm for their learners' progress and for their languages and the personal/cultural enrichment these bring to the lives of individuals and British society generally. I hope this gift can support the work of the Association and of its volunteers in all their spheres of activity.'

Leave a legacy or bequest

Leaving a charitable gift to ALL in your will is a wonderful way to pass on your love of languages and support of language learning to future generations, by ensuring that the subject you have enjoyed and may have taught, will enrich the lives of people in years to come.  A legacy gift from you will help us to continue supporting and guiding the next generation of language teachers. Part of this support includes the ability, for example, to offer subsidised rates of membership and attendance at our flagship Language World conference for students and newly qualified teachers and those working part-time.

Enabling ALL to claim Gift Aid on your membership fees

Gift Aid means that for every pound you give through your membership subscription, we get an extra 25 pence from the Inland Revenue, which helps your contribution go further. If you pay tax at the higher rate, you are able to claim tax relief on the difference between the higher and standard rates of tax through your tax return.
