We’re delighted to invite you and your students to the ALL West of England Sixth Form Lectures, returning on Wednesday 11 February 2026 at the University of Bristol. This popular annual event offers an inspiring and enriching experience for A-level and AS-level language learners, and we’d love for your school to be part of it!

We’re bringing back our much-loved 2024 lecture line-up for the benefit of this year’s sixth formers. Each session is led by experienced university lecturers and closely aligned with A-level themes, offering your students valuable exposure to academic-style content in French, German and Spanish.

This year’s programme includes:

• Spanish – El patrimonio musical y su diversidad
  Speaker: Carmen Meira-García (School of Education, University of Bristol)
  A fascinating exploration of the musical traditions across the Spanish-speaking world, highlighting their cultural and historical significance.
• German – Von A wie Austropop bis Z wie Zeitgeist
  Speakers: Ruth Winter & Claudia Sein (Department of German, University of Bristol)
  A dynamic musical journey through Germany and Austria, from iconic Austropop to contemporary rap and electronic music reflecting modern cultural trends.
• French – La musique francophone contemporaine
  Speaker: Marie-Claire Marshall (Department of French, University of Bristol)
  A deep dive into the diverse world of modern Francophone music, examining genres, artists, and cultural influences.

In addition, we are delighted to have final-year university language students sharing again their personal insights into studying languages at degree level, helping your students see where their language learning journey could take them.
