The CBI yesterday responded to the release of A-Level results for 2011. In congratulating students and teachers for their hard work, Dr Neil Bentley, CBI Deputy Director-General, said:
“We’re encouraged that more people have heeded the call from businesses to study A-Level maths and science, but overall numbers are still far too low and must increase further to meet employer demand.
“Strong exports performance in emerging markets will be crucial to driving our economic recovery, so it’s positive news that the number of young people studying Chinese has gone up. Companies will need many more people with strong language skills to help them enter new markets like China in the future."
