So here we are! After 7 days, lots of hard work and 36,297,004 questions answered by 916 schools across the globe, here are the final results for the Language Perfect World Championships 2011:

Top countries:

1. Australia – 7,266,022 (19,314,151 questions)
2. New Zealand – 4,331,923 (10,362,924 questions)
3. England – 1,788,483 (5,035,911 questions)

England takes home the bronze medal, with a sterling performance across the board. Congratulations to all of you!

The top UK School was Wallington High School for Girls, with an amazing score of 262,116. And a UK student brought home the first prize in Russian: congratulations to Qays L from Bristol Grammar School, with a fantastic score of 4,581! Bristol Grammar School and Wallington High School for Girls were also the top schools in Russian and Spanish respectively.

But schools from other parts of the UK also did us proud: congratulations to Ysgol Dyffryn Taf in Wales, whose average score per student was 1554, one of the highest in the competition! And we take our hats off to St Leonard’s School in Scotland, the only Scottish school taking part in the championships, who were still up and competing in the tournament at 2:30am last night…
