Over the next few months we will be highlighting a selection of LinkedUp resources. This week the focus is on transition. There are currently seven amazing transition projects on the Links resource finder, each one with a project overview and downloadable materials. All of them are brilliant, and here are a few to give you a taste:
For transition from key stages 4 to 5:
Aiming Higher in Languages
Great ideas and resources to improve pupils’ chances of achieving A/A* grades in French / German and to promote uptake at key stage 5.
Ensuring successful transition from Key Stage 4 to Key Stage 5
Ideas for activities and downloadable guidelines for students and teachers to support successful transition from a school environment to language learning at a sixth form college.
For transition from key stages 2 to 3:
Improving pupils’ progress in languages through effective
approaches to transition
How do you cope when up to 80 schools may feed into one secondary school every September? Year 6 and 7 teachers developed strategies to transfer information about pupils’ attainment and progress in a pupil and teacher friendly way.
Madagascar
An imaginative, cross-curricular approach to transition with a focus on language learning strategies and intercultural understanding. Pupils worked together in vertical groups and developed learning skills through peer and self-assessment.
