A new website, ‘The EU Immigration Portal’, has been launched by European Commissioner for Home Affairs, Celia Malmström. The site aims to be a first port of call for all foreign nationals planning to move to the EU, providing practical information on the migration procedures in all 27 Member States. It also offers advice for migrants who are already in the EU by detailing relevant migrants’ support organisations and immigrant authorities.

Commissioner Malmström said: "Many people who want to move to the European Union do not know what possibilities exist, how to apply for a resident permit or the risks related to irregular migration. And migrants who are already in the EU are not always aware of their rights. We need to provide solid, easily accessible information about these sometimes complicated procedures."

The EU Immigration Portal is currently available in English and French, but Arabic and Spanish versions of the site are also underway along with improvements to make it more accessible from different technical platforms.
