ALL Thames Valley Hub: Alumni Network

The first meeting of the ALL University of Reading Alumni Network will take place ONLINE via Teams on Tuesday 24^th November 2026 from 4.00-5.30pm

Our Speaker will be Emma Penson, an MFL teacher and mentor. She will be talking about her master’s dissertation, “Teacher perceptions of the purpose, barriers and possible solution for second language writing task in Key Stage 3 MFL classes in a school in England”. Emma’s work is highly relevant to a current issue in many schools. She explores the types of writing KS3 learners are asked to do, the purpose behind them, barriers teachers face and suggestions for overcoming them. Her findings and recommendations will be of interest to all MFL teachers, and we hope will encourage lively discussion. Please come ready to listen and contribute.

The ALL UoR Alumni Network is a new local group run on behalf of the Association of Language Learning, open to all, and aimed primarily at alumni, mentors and friends of the UoR Secondary PGCE in MFL.

Please contact Barbara King [email protected], if you are interested in attending the online event, or would like more information about the group.
