This hub meeting will be the second of two sessions this year to help members prepare for the new Ofsted framework that comes into effect from September. To ensure that schools are offering a broad curriculum, Ofsted may do a ‘Deep Dive’ into subjects including languages. They will be interested in three aspects, which we will discuss over two meetings on March 11th and June 10th 2020.
In our meeting on March 10th will look at:
INTENT
The school’s aims for language learning, largely reflected in policies and vision statements
and
IMPLEMENTATION
How teaching is delivered through schemes of work, lesson planning and all the extras (songs, stories, cross-curricular learning…)
The most inspiring sessions are those when we hear from YOU, dear teachers, so don’t be shy about contributing all those ideas and questions!
At our March hub we need your help! Please send us a short email ASAP if you can help with any of the following so we can put together a detailed programme. They do NOT need to be time-consuming in advance on your part:
Do you use any of these schemes?
Lightbulb languages
Cave languages
Language Angels
Culturethèque
Early start
ilanguages
Primary Languages
Salut
Golden Daffodils
Rockalingua
Or outside providers (Lingotot, Kidslingo)
Tell us what you think!
If you don’t yet have a policy or scheme in place, or think it could do with an update come and get some ideas to take back.
Thank you in advance – we look forward to hearing from you and hope to see you on March 11th!
