The next PHOrum meeting will take place online Wednesday 11 November 4.00-5.30pm. In addition to the opportunity to network and find about what is the current news about primary languages, there will be presentations by two very experienced primary languages teachers.
Kate Percival – Effective use of mini-whiteboards in the primary languages classroom
Get to grips with both the theory and the practical behind how and why the humble mini whiteboard can be effectively used in language lessons. Hear how their use can encourage engagement, boost confidence and allow you to assess progress in a manageable way. You’ll come away with ideas you can implement into your practice straight away with little to no preparation but with maximum impact.
Angela Smith – Creativity + Challenge = Confidence
Creativity and challenge in primary language learning foster confidence by encouraging risk-taking, problem-solving, and self-expression. Angela will demonstrate how collaborating on creative tasks can make learning enjoyable and meaningful, while supported challenge can stretch learners’ abilities, promoting a sense of achievement. She will include practical examples of classroom activities to help students overcome their fear of mistakes, develop resilience, and build linguistic competence, leading to increased confidence and self-belief.
