The ALL Connect Transition Toolkit is the go-to resource for teachers at KS2 and KS3. It was successfully launched at Language World 2016 and contains example activities in French, Spanish and German.

  • Are you looking for a list of key linguistic knowledge (i.e. grammar) developed at KS2? It’s in the Transition Toolkit! It also includes suggestions of the target language which can be used by teachers and pupils in the classroom, and offers pointers for KS3 teachers to reflect on the implications of that knowledge at KS3.
  • Do you need new strategies to develop key skills (e.g. phonics, dictionary use)? You will find a lot of ideas in the Transition Toolkit for both KS2 and KS3!
  • Do you want to increase your pupils’ intercultural knowledge and understanding? Yes, it’s in there too, with lots of links to resources which will support you. I particularly recommend looking at “the iceberg concept of culture” page 48; it will get you thinking…
  • How about potential collaboration between KS2 and KS3 teachers and the sharing of information about pupils? There are ready-made projects and proformas you can pull out and use straight away, whether you have already made contact with the other Key Stage or not.

You will also find information about assessment, bridging projects and differentiation as well as research… and so much more! So what are you waiting for? Go and download it… like all of the ALL Connect resources, it’s completely free!
